How does the SureSmile process work?

SureSmile precision braces are custom-made for you using innovative technology that allows for more exact tooth movement than ever before. Following the insertion of your SureSmile wire, you’ll be headed towards a gorgeous, healthy smile sooner than you imagined possible.

Step one: Advanced Imaging

SureSmile builds a three-dimensional computer model of your bite by scanning your teeth using modern imaging technologies. OraScanner® or Cone Beam Computed Tomography may be used to create the three-dimensional image (CBCT). The scan is the first step in your SureSmile treatment.

Step two: Prescriptive Planning

The doctor can now view your teeth from every angle and how they fit together thanks to the 3-D model. SureSmile Treatment Planning software incorporates virtual simulation capabilities that assist your dentist in determining the ultimate position of your teeth and the most appropriate treatment plan for your specific treatment requirements.

Step three: Robotic Accuracy

Once your treatment plan is developed, SureSmile instructs a robot to bend a shape memory alloy archwire in the manner prescribed by your doctor. This wire is meant to provide mild stresses to your teeth in order to move them consistently and more directly to their final position.

  • Conebeam Computed Tomography scans enable your doctor to do a more detailed analysis of the orientation and location of your teeth and roots by separating various tissue types such as bone, teeth, nerves, and soft tissue.
  • SureSmile software enables your doctor to conduct virtual simulations to evaluate treatment choices and identify the optimal course of action. Each tooth’s goal location is determined in advance, so you’ll know what to anticipate.
  • Shape Retention Alloy archwires are manufactured by heating Copper Ni-Ti® metal to temperatures in excess of 1000oF during the robotic customizing process. These “smart” wires maintain your unique prescription indefinitely and are triggered by your body heat.
